1. What preparation is required before the test?
To help ensure the accuracy of the test result, it is generally recommended to abstain from ejaculation for 2 to 3 days before sample collection.
During this period, you should avoid alcohol and highly stimulating foods, and maintain a regular sleep routine. If you are taking any medication, please consult your doctor in advance.
2. How is the sample collected?
You will usually be advised to collect the semen sample in a sterile sample container provided for this purpose.
Please ensure that the full semen sample is collected, as incomplete collection may affect the test result.
3. When will the report be available?
After sample collection and completion of all analysis items, the report is usually available within 1 to 3 working days.
We will notify you in a strictly confidential manner and provide explanation by healthcare professionals where appropriate.
4. What should I do if the result is abnormal?
A single abnormal result does not necessarily mean infertility.
Our healthcare team will explain the report in detail and, based on your individual situation, may suggest lifestyle adjustments, further investigations, or referral to a urologist or fertility centre to help you plan the next step.
5. Will the test feel embarrassing or uncomfortable?
We fully understand the private nature of this test. Our team provides the service in a respectful, confidential and supportive manner. Your privacy and comfort are our priorities throughout the process.
6. What issues can the test result indicate?
The report may indicate possible issues such as:
- Low sperm count, also known as oligospermia
- Reduced sperm motility, also known as asthenozoospermia
- A low proportion of normally shaped sperm, also known as teratozoospermia
- Absence of sperm, also known as azoospermia
- Possible signs of infection
These results may help doctors identify possible underlying causes and advise on suitable follow-up.
