Diabetes Profile - Metabolic Risk Screening
Early Detection for Blood Sugar Control & Kidney Health
Diabetes often develops silently without noticeable symptoms in its early stages. Regular screening is essential for early identification, effective blood sugar management, and preventing long-term complications.
Our Diabetes Screening Package (HK$ 680) offers a targeted, clinically proven assessment to evaluate your current blood glucose levels, monitor long-term blood sugar control, and screen for early signs of diabetic kidney damage.
What Does the Package Include?
This package evaluates three essential clinical biomarkers to give you and your doctor a complete picture of your metabolic health:
1. Fasting Blood Glucose Test
Measures your immediate blood sugar concentration after an overnight fast to detect prediabetes or active diabetes.
2. Glycated Haemoglobin (HbA1c) Test
Reflects your average blood sugar control over the past 2 to 3 months. Unlike daily blood sugar fluctuations, HbA1c provides a reliable, long-term picture of how your body processes glucose.
3. Urine Microalbumin-to-Creatinine Ratio (uACR)
Screens for early, microscopic signs of diabetic kidney disease (nephropathy). Detecting elevated protein in your urine early allows for timely intervention before permanent kidney damage occurs.
Who Should Consider Diabetes Screening?
Screening is highly recommended for adults, especially those with one or more risk factors:
- Age 35 or above (annual baseline screening)
- Family History: A parent, sibling, or close relative with Type 2 diabetes
- Lifestyle Factors: Overweight/obesity, sedentary lifestyle, or high-sugar/high-carb diet
- Cardiovascular Conditions: High blood pressure (hypertension), elevated cholesterol, or a history of heart disease
- Personal Symptoms: Unexplained fatigue, increased thirst, frequent urination, sudden weight loss, or slow-healing cuts
- History of Gestational Diabetes: Women who experienced high blood sugar during pregnancy
