Exercise ECG — Performed and Reported by a Cardiologist

Heart disease refers to a range of conditions affecting the heart. Among the different types of heart disease, coronary heart disease is one of the leading causes of heart-related deaths.

Coronary heart disease commonly occurs when cholesterol deposits build up inside the coronary arteries, causing the arteries to narrow. This may reduce blood supply to the heart muscle and lead to symptoms such as chest pain or angina during physical activity.

An exercise ECG may help assess how the heart responds during physical exertion. It may provide useful information for evaluating cardiovascular risk and identifying possible abnormalities that may not be apparent on a resting ECG.

This examination may be suitable for individuals with risk factors such as smoking, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, or those with existing concerns about heart health.

The examination is performed and reported by a specialist cardiologist.

  • This examination may be suitable for:

    • Adults aged 40 or above
    • Individuals with a family history of inherited heart disease
    • Individuals who frequently experience palpitations, chest tightness or shortness of breath
    • Individuals with a family history of heart disease or cardiovascular disease
    • Higher-risk individuals, including smokers, people with diabetes, high cholesterol or obesity

Individuals with symptoms such as palpitations, chest tightness or breathing difficulties, or those with a family history of cardiovascular disease, may consider regular exercise ECG testing as advised by a doctor.

    • Please avoid strenuous exercise within 12 hours before the examination.
    • On the day of the examination, please wear running shoes and comfortable sportswear.
    • Please avoid wearing metal items that may interfere with the test, such as watches or belts with metal buckles.
