Hepatitis A and B Combined Vaccine — 3 Doses
The Hepatitis A and B Combined Vaccine, also known as Twinrix®, helps protect against both hepatitis A and hepatitis B virus infections.
Hepatitis A infection may, in rare cases, lead to fulminant hepatitis, also known as acute liver failure. Hepatitis B vaccination helps reduce the risk of hepatitis B infection and related complications, such as liver cirrhosis and liver cancer.
The vaccine is usually given as a 3-dose course over 6 months:
- 1st dose: initial vaccination
- 2nd dose: around 1 month after the first dose
- 3rd dose: around 5 months after the second dose
After completing all three doses, the body can develop a stronger antibody response against hepatitis A and hepatitis B viruses. Please follow the vaccination schedule advised by your doctor or healthcare professional.
This vaccine may be suitable for:
- Individuals who frequently travel to or live in areas with moderate to high risk of hepatitis A or B infection
- Individuals who regularly receive blood transfusions or blood products
- People living with HIV
- Men who have sex with men, or bisexual men
- Individuals whose family members or partners carry hepatitis A or hepatitis B virus
- Patients with chronic liver disease
- Healthcare workers who may come into contact with patients’ blood or bodily fluids
- Individuals receiving dialysis
The vaccine is usually given as a 3-dose course over 6 months:
- The second dose is usually given around 1 month after the first dose
- The third dose is usually given around 5 months after the second dose
Completing all three doses helps the body develop sufficient antibodies against hepatitis A and hepatitis B viruses.
