Gardasil 9 HPV Vaccine — 3 Doses

Gardasil 9 HPV Vaccine — 3 Doses

HPV infection is common among both men and women who have been sexually active. Certain types of HPV may increase the risk of cancer and other HPV-related conditions.

In women, HPV infection may be associated with cervical cancer and vulval cancer. Cervical cancer has also been seen in younger age groups in recent years, with many cases occurring before the age of 55.

In men, HPV infection may be associated with anal cancer, genital warts, penile cancer and certain head and neck cancers, including oropharyngeal, laryngeal, oral and tongue cancers.

HPV vaccination, also known as cervical cancer vaccination, helps the body develop antibodies against HPV and supports protection against HPV-related diseases in both men and women.

  • HPV vaccination is suitable for males and females aged 9 or above.

The World Health Organization recommends girls aged 9–14 who have not yet become sexually active as the primary target group for HPV vaccination, as this helps support cervical cancer prevention.

Men may also benefit from HPV vaccination. Local data suggests that genital warts are more commonly reported in men than in women. HPV can also be transmitted between sexual partners, and some HPV types are associated with cancer risk.

For individuals with HPV-related conditions, or where a partner has been affected, HPV testing and medical advice may be recommended. HPV-related diseases and their treatment may also have implications for sexual health, fertility planning and long-term wellbeing.

  • Common side effects of the HPV vaccine are similar to those of many other vaccines. These may include redness, swelling, pain or warmth at the injection site. Most reactions are mild and usually resolve on their own.

HPV vaccination may not be suitable for individuals who:

    • Have had an allergic reaction to any ingredient of the vaccine
    • Are pregnant or planning pregnancy
    • Have cervical cancer and require individual medical assessment

If you are unsure whether HPV vaccination is suitable for you, please consult a doctor or healthcare professional before vaccination.
